Draw Country Borders from Memory

A terrain map with country names and borders hidden; city and terrain labels offer clues. Circle a country, or draw the border between two neighbours: the Pyrenees between France and Spain, the Andes between Chile and Argentina, the straight desert lines of North Africa.

Draw a region (145 questions) Draw a shared border (208 questions)

Two ways to play

Draw a region: circle the country’s mainland. Island nations are asked as outlines of their main islands; the sea never counts against you. Draw a shared border: trace one continuous land border between two neighbours. Borders with several separate stretches are kept for later.

What is included

This pack asks about countries whose outline and borders are not in dispute in our source data. Countries and borders with contested or unsettled lines are left out for now rather than shown one way or another; the list below is what is playable today. Shapes come from Natural Earth (see map data). Very small countries are not asked as outlines because they would be hard to see at this scale.

Scoring

Outlines are scored by overlap with the real shape, borders by how closely your line follows the real one within a tolerance that grows with the size of the question, up to 25 km for the longest borders. See how scoring works.

How does this draw country borders game work?

To draw a country from memory, close a ring around its land. For a shared-border question, draw the line between the two named neighbours instead. Switch between Draw and Move to trace or reposition the map. Submit to reveal the real shape; Retry repeats the same question, while Skip chooses another practice question.
